Vodafone Warriors winger Manu Vatuvei made a profound statement when he debuted in the Fight For Life in Auckland last night.
Fighting to raise awareness about prostate cancer, The Beast, superbly prepared by former Vodafone Warrior Monty Betham, looked right at home in the ring.
Trimmed down to 104kg, the 26-year-old dominated the game Murray to help his rugby league team to a 3-1 win over the rugby union (and rowing) opposition.
Other winners for the league team were Greg Bird and Paul Gallen while Carlos Spencer gave the union boys their only success in an old school roughhouse bout against former Kiwi hard man Jarrod McCracken. The clash between Willie Mason and Troy Flavell was declared a draw.
In the pro fights Daniella Smith beat Lauryn Eagle and Joseph Parker stopped Richard Tutaki.
